Frequently asked questions
First how to do the everyday things, then the questions we're asked most. What's stored and who can see it is covered in detail on the “Your data” page.
Creating a circle and inviting families to it
- The “Circles” tab, at the bottom of the screen.
- Type a name, for example “Léa's class,” then tap “Create.”
- Open the circle and scroll down to “Invite families.”
- Say how many families you're expecting and how many days the link stays valid.
- Tap “Create the link 🔗,” then send it over WhatsApp or by text message.
The link is never shown again, even if you come back to the page. If you've already sent it and just want a second one, redo step 4: the first one keeps working. “Make a new link” is for a link lost before being sent, or one that's traveled too far, since it cuts off the old one for everyone.
When someone follows it, their request appears in the circle with their name, and you decide.
Joining a circle
- Open the link you were sent.
- Sign in, if you haven't already.
- Your request goes to the person who administers the circle.
You get in once they accept it. While they haven't answered yet, you don't see anything from the circle.
Announcing an outing
- Tap “Announce an outing,” on the home screen.
- At the top, check which circles it's going to and for how long. “Change” updates both.
- Choose a place from the list. If it's not there, “The place isn't in the list” lets you add it.
- Tap “Confirm the outing.”
It stops on its own at the time you gave. You don't have to do anything to take it down.
Getting notifications
- The “You” tab, then “🔔 Notifications.”
- Tap “Turn on notifications for this device.”
- Your phone asks for permission. Accept it.
On iPhone, you need to have added Allezou to your home screen first (see below). That's a constraint from Apple, not a choice on our part.
On the same page, “Words you're watching for” notifies you when an agenda activity contains one of them. And “Pause 4h” turns everything off for the afternoon.
Allezou says they're blocked, but my phone allows them. These are two different settings, and you're looking at the one that isn't the problem. Your phone allows the app; the browser, on the other hand, allows the site, and that's the one blocking them.
To find out which one concerns you, check whether the address bar is visible at the top.
If it is, you're in a browser: tap the icon to its left, then “Permissions,” and turn notifications on.
If it isn't, you're using the installed shortcut, on your phone's home screen or on your desktop. The setting is then in the device's settings, under Allezou.
If you declined them once, your browser remembers that refusal and won't ask again: you have to go change it by hand.
Adding Allezou to your home screen
On iPhone, tap the Share button at the bottom of Safari, then “Add to Home Screen.”
On Android, your browser often offers to do it for you. If not, look for “Install app” in its menu, at the top right.
It doesn't download anything: it's a shortcut, which opens Allezou full-screen and saves you from signing in every time.
No longer being seen by someone
Open the circle, find the person in the member list, uncheck them. This person no longer sees your outings, you no longer see theirs, and nothing tells them it happened. You both stay in the circle.
If you only want them to stop making your phone ring, tap the 🔕 bell next to their name instead. You'll keep seeing their outings on screen.
Deleting your account
The “You” tab, all the way down: “Delete your account,” then “Delete permanently.”
Your outings go with it, and you leave your circles. It's immediate, and it can't be undone.
Circles
Who can get into my circle? No one, without your approval. Following a link doesn't let anyone in — it files a request, which you accept or decline.
What if my link gets forwarded to people I don't know? It still gives no access. A link is worth at most the number of families and the number of days you set, and you can turn it off whenever you want.
A name I don't recognize is asking to join. Decline, or ask around first. If you accepted too quickly, you can remove someone from the circle afterward.
Can I leave a circle? Yes, whenever you want. You immediately stop seeing its outings, and its members stop seeing yours.
Outings
Who sees that we're out? The circles you checked when you posted it. A member of a circle you didn't check sees nothing.
How long does it stay up? The outing stops at the end time you gave, and disappears for good twenty-four hours later. No one can look up a history, not even you.
Does Allezou know where I am? No. You choose a place from a list; your phone is never asked about its location.
Someone joined our outing and I don't know them. The list only shows you the people you already share a circle with. A family who came through another circle doesn't appear there.
The agenda
Where do the activities come from? Public websites run by Geneva's municipalities, checked several times a day.
I just arrived and my circles are empty. The agenda still works. The canton's activities are there from day one, without waiting for other families to join.
An activity is missing, or some information is wrong. Write to us. The municipalities' pages change format often, and some are hard to read.
Your data
What do you know about my children? Their first name. No last name, no age, no photo, no school.
How much does it cost? Nothing. No ads either.
How do I sign in, without a password? You enter your address, you get a link, and you're signed in. The link is valid for fifteen minutes and works only once. After that your phone can remember you, with “Sign in with a passkey.”
Do the notifications go through anyone else? Yes, necessarily: through Apple on iPhone, through Google on Android. No app is exempt from it. Their content is encrypted, so they relay it without being able to read it.
